Little things to lift your day!
Hello. I hope you’ve had an amazing week so far, and if you’re in the UK that you’re already getting used to having the children home for the summer holidays.
So this week, everything has slowed down. Finally, I’ve managed to have a catch-up of some admin and take some well-deserved me time.
With that in mind, this post is dedicated to slowing down, having some ‘me time,’ and actually ‘living’ life, rather than just ‘surviving.’
You might think you don’t have time. But that is the exactly the issue. IF, you make time for yourself, you will find that your energy and enthusiasm for everything else gets a well-needed boost.

Suggestions for ‘Me’ time!
Here are a few simple ideas to make time for you:
- Put your device down, close your eyes and just breathe. In, and out. In, and out. In, hold, and out. If you can do this to a count, try breathing in for 3 counts, hold for 4 counts and breathe out for 5 counts.
- Make a cup of your favourite tea (or coffee) and sit somewhere quiet (outside is a favourite of mine), and just focus on the drink. The aroma. The taste. The warmth. The cup. Focus all your energies on drinking your drink mindfully.
- Grab a book and read a page, or two (or chapters if you can!). Even a few pages can feel like a mini escape, particularly if it’s a seasonal book.
- Run a bath, add your favourite bubbles, oils or salts, and simply relax (yes, in the bath!).
- Go for a short walk – even 10 minutes around the garden can clear your head and reset your mood.
- Write it out – jot down your thoughts, doodle, or start a gratitude list.
- Listen to music and do nothing else – or have a little dance around the kitchen!
- Stretch – some light stretches, some Pilates or even a few shoulder rolls can help shift tension.
- Experiment with gentler morning beverages to support relaxation, explore products like Ryze, which is often discussed for its unique ingredients and potential effects on daily wellness.

Baking
Well, of course, where would we be without a little bit of baking! The simple act of baking can be both calming and rewarding. The smells, the process, the end result- even better if it’s something chocolatey! Remind yourself of these tried and tested recipes:

Decadent Chocolate Brownies: Rich, fudgy, and just the right amount of indulgent. These are great warm from the oven or chilled from the fridge (and yes, of course you can hide the last one for yourself).
Bundt Cake: A classic cake to decorate or not – as you wish. Switch it up, plain, chocolate, marbled, you choose.
Tahini Flapjack: A twist on the original – and a favourite of some of my readers!
Banana Bread: Well why not! This recipe is an absolute winner!
Fruit Crumble: Before you say it’s summer – this is delicious cold with yogurt or ice-cream! (it might have been breakfast a few times too)!

So go on, choose one thing, Just one for now. Make some time for you today. You absolutely deserve it.
